I parę zdań o biegu :)
This year, the IAU European 100km Championship took place as part of the Night of Flanders festival of events. It was the 27th Night of Flanders and therefore steeped in tradition based on a March to the Flemish Coast at Middlekerk, near Ostende and back. The IAU have held the European Championships previously during this excellent event but in recent years the Championship course has consisted of an initial 10 km loop around the town followed by 3 large loops ( around 28 km) around the surrounding villages before returning to finish with a fanfare on a stage in front of the Town Hall in the middle of the town.
This year, there were 19 countries participating in the event, with the latest country to join the IAU - Estonia only signing up enthusiastically 2 days before the event to ensure that their athletes were recognised. The start of the event is a very large affair as the Night of Flanders also consists of the 100km March, a marathon run/walk and a 10 km run/walk around the town. So there were thousands of participants waiting keenly at the start line for the 8 pm start. The whole neighbourhood welcomes the participants through the town for the 10 km part of the race with street parties and barbecues on the pavements and these are also to be found during the night on the streets of the towns and villages on the route. A very welcome sight to the runners during the long night. For the evening and the start of the race, the sky was clear and the temperature was in the lower 20s.
After the dust had settled following the initial 10km and the 100km Championship runners had settled into their rhythm on the long loop out into the country, spectators could see that the spanish runner Jose Maria Gonzales (winner of 100K of Madrid earlier this year) had taken the lead. Initially the Russian Alexander Vishnyagov tried to follow in the first kms but fell back after 10km. A chasing group was led by the Italian Mario Ardemagni, together with Fermin Martinez and Miguel Jimenez (ESP) and the Russians Alexey Izmaylov and Denis Zhalybin. One minute later an further elite group with most of the other favourites like Sandor Bracza, Pascal Fetizon, Yannick Djouadi (FRA), Marc Papanikitas (BEL), Vasiliy Spiridonov, Igor Thyazkorob (RUS), Slavomir Lindvai (SVK),Dzmitry Bula (BLR), Oleksandr Holovnytski (UKR) and Luud Aivar (EST). At the Handzame refreshment station, Gonzales passed 30.7km in 1h53'40", with Ardemagni following 2 minutes later together with the two Spanish runners, all three of them less than 1' in front of the following elite group. In the ladies race Monica Casiraghi (ITA), twice World and European 100km champion, had taken an early lead over the Russian Svetlana Savoskina who was followed by a group of five runners including the French leading team of three (Laurence Fricotteau, Christine Lelan and Magali Reyhonenq)
At the 50 km mark, Gonzales was still running very fluently passing the mark in 3h07'. Mario Ardemagni, was following in second but retired from the race 2km later due to stomach problems. This meant that the Russians Vishnyagov and Izmaylov running together were now in second position, 6' behind the leader. The two other Spanish runners Firmin and Martinez were about 1' behind, followed by Fetizon, Djouadi, Bula, Tyazkorob and Zalybin. The Belgian runner Papanikitas was 11th. The leading positions for the ladies remained the same.
However, dramatic changes were about to take place as night enveloped the course and the temperature dropped. Whilst Gonzales (ESP) steadily increased his lead to 9 minutes, Fetizon and Djouadi (FRA) moved into joint second. Bula (BLR) had also moved up to fourth 2 minutes behind the French pair. One of the Russians, Tyazkorob (RUS) was still running strongly with the Spanish runner Jimenez close behind. In the ladies race, both leading runners Casiraghi (ITA) and then Savoskina (RUS) had dropped out soon after 65 km for various reasons leaving the three French athletes running together in the lead. This order changed dramatically by 85km as the German athlete Birgit Schonherr-Holscher had begun her charge for the finish ( as she had demonstrated in 2005 at the previous championship) She was now in front by about a minute with the French team splitting up in pursuit with Fricotteau (FRA) leading the group.
The first runner to come into the main square in Torhout and onto the Finish platform was indeed Jose Maria Gonzales (ESP) to becom the new European Champion 100Km, his winning time 6:23:44 was also a new Spanish Record and possibly a World M40 best performance. The silver medal was surprisingly Dmitry Bula (BLR) who had come through in the final stages. A couple of weeks ago he had been the winner of the "50km of Flanders" (2:59:43) and he was now second after a sprint of 20km ! Yannick Djouadi outsprinted his teammate Pascal Fetizon, (FRA) to come in third and fourth respectively.
In the men¡¦s team race, Spain, led home by Gonzales finished 11 minutes ahead of France, followed by Russia. Twelve countries completed teams.
For the ladies, Birgit Schonherr-Hoschler led onto her new lead to finish as European Champion in a time of 7.58.44 with Laurence Fricotteau (FRA) coming in under a minute behind her in 7.59.22 and her team mate Christine Lelan in third in 8.01.54. The French team running together in the early stages ensured success for the team race with Germany and Italy completing the podium.
Whilst the faster runners were getting some well-earned rest, during the rest of the night and into the following day both runners and walkers continued to make their way from the Flanders countryside into the welcoming main square of Torhout to complete another memorable Night of Flanders.

W tej chwili nie ma MP,ostatnie odbyły się podczas XX Supremaratonu "Calisia" w 2001 r.
Pierwsze oficjalne MP w biegu na 100km odbyły się podczas tych zawodów ( SM "Calisia" od 1988 r.zaliczany był do kl.Pucharu Europy ) w 1995 r.a zwycięzcą i pierwszym Mistrzem Polski w Supermaratonie został, z aktualnym rek.kraju na tym dyst.- 6;22,33 godz.,Jarosław Janicki z Hermesu Gryfino.
2.MP w 1996 r.zdobył ( nie zwycięzca SM "Calisia" - Andrzej Magier,brak licencji ) 4.na mecie Maciej Ciepłak z Rybnika.
A aktualny wtedy 3-krotny Mistrz Europy na tym dystansie z rzędu ( 1994 - 1996 )i v-ce Mistrz ( nieof.)świata J.Janicki tak roztrwonił zdecydowane prowadzenie iż na 97.km minąłem go ja piszący tą historię,On był wtedy 4.w MP a mnie przypadł wtedy pierwszy medal brązowy w karierze,który skopiowałem 2 lata później.Był to wtedy mój największy sukces życiowy gdyż pokonałem aktualnego Mistrza Europy,v-ce Mistrza świata i rekordzistę Polski.Gdy minąłem Jarka na 3km przed metą On był tak wyczerpany,że nawet nie zareagował i chyba nie wiedział,że traci w tym momencie medal MP.
W 1997 r. rozegrano natomiast 1.( i ostatnie zarazem Międzynarodowe MP a zwyciężył w nich wtedy aktualny ( nieoficjalny,bo takie są rozgrywane do dziś ) Mistrz świata Siergiej Janienko z Ukrainy przed A. Magierem.
3.MP rozegrano w 1998 r.( pierwszych pięć lokat na mecie przypadło gościom zza wsch.granicy a szósty na mecie A. Magier został po minieciu lini mety,zdyskwalifikowany.Ponieważ wcześniej na 80-tym km zrezygnował z kontynuowania biegu zdjąwszy numer startowy lecz po jakimś czasie,bez zgody sędziego zawodów począł kontynuować bieg i przybiegł na metę za piątką zagranicznych gości ale pierwszy z Polaków niestety decyzja sędziów była nieodwołalna )tytuł MP zdobył 6. na mecie całkowity debiutant na tym dystansie - Jerzy Kulczyk z m.Tychowo.
4.tytuł zdobył w 1999 r.po raz drugi J.Janicki.
W 5.MP w 2000 r.tryumfował po raz pierwszy po wcześ niejszych perypetiach z licencjami i sędziami - A.Magier,który pięknie rozegrał końcówkę biegu gdyż na 80-tym km miał ok. 8 min.straty do także wtedy debiutanta Śp.Piotra Sękowskiego a jednak ten ostatni tak się "doprawił"iż A.Magier odrobił straty i jeszcze z ponad 7-mio min.nawiązką przekroczył linię mety.
I w ost.6.MP w Kaliszu zwyciężył po nabraniu doświadczenia w zawodach P.Ś. i ME ( srebro)Śp. Piotr Śękowski z Płońska.
Na dyst.100km odbywają się ( nieoficjalne ) M.Ś.w których polski dorobek to: 3 srebrne medale J.Janickiego i 2 brązowe A.Magiera a w oficjalnych M.E.- 3.tytuły J.Janickiego,2 srebrne A.Magiera i srebrny P.Sękowskiego.
To tak pokrótce,jeśli coś pominąłem lub przeinaczyłem to zwracam honor a proszę zwrócić się z zapytaniem do naszego wspaniałego "mierniczego" Tadka Dziekońskiego z Białegostoku,który jest wysłannikiem PZLA w Supermaratonie a na w/w zawody zawsze był i jest Kierownikiem reprezentacji.
